Hobson Village · Naperville, Illinois
One of the original Hobson neighborhoods in central Naperville, anchoring a wooded pocket named for the pioneer family that first settled along the DuPage River.
“Named for one of the first families to settle DuPage County, Hobson Village carries a sense of place that few corners of Naperville can claim.”
Hobson Village sits in central Naperville, west of Olesen Drive in the wooded pocket that takes its name from Bailey Hobson, who settled along the West Branch of the DuPage River in the early 1830s and built one of the area's first grist mills. That heritage is still marked today by Hobson Road and the preserved mill site at Pioneer Park. The Village sits among the cluster of long-established Hobson neighborhoods near the river corridor.
Most of these residences went up across the 1970s and 1980s, single-family homes set on generous, wooded lots beneath a mature tree canopy that has filled in over the decades. The architecture spans the traditional styles of the era, from Colonial and Tudor Revivals to custom builds, and many of the original homes have been refreshed and expanded by their owners over the years.
The streets here read as settled and established, with predominantly owner-occupied homes and the kind of low turnover that lets a neighborhood mature in place. Mature landscaping and quiet, leafy blocks give the Village a character that is hard to reproduce in newer parts of the city.
Day to day, Hobson Village trades on its proximity to the river corridor, with Pioneer Park, Veterans Park, and the DuPage River trails close at hand. The location keeps downtown Naperville, the BNSF Metra line, and the I-88 corporate corridor within a short drive, a practical balance for buyers weighing an established setting against easy access across the western suburbs.
