Darien

Darien was incorporated in 1969, making it among the younger municipalities in DuPage County, though its residential neighborhoods have been largely established for several decades. The city of approximately 21,000 occupies a position between Downers Grove and Westmont on Route 83, with residential subdivisions distributed across the city's land area along its network of arterial roads. Its location provides access to I-55 and I-294, giving residents commuter options to both Chicago and the western employment corridors along I-88.

The housing stock is predominantly single-family, with a mix of ranches, split-levels, and colonials that reflect the construction eras of the 1960s through the 1990s. A number of properties have been renovated and expanded over the decades, contributing to a varied resale inventory across the city's neighborhoods.

Waterfall Glen Forest Preserve is adjacent to portions of Darien's southern and southwestern edge, providing a natural buffer and an adjacent recreational resource along the city's southern edge. The combination of I-55 and I-294 access and an established single-family housing stock defines Darien's position within DuPage County's central corridor.
